CPR – Life Support Skills

Qualification title: Life Support Skills course

Description and Purpose

This 2 hour course  covers a range of CPR, AED and First Aid skills and the training enables a responder to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill at home or out and about.

This course will provide the learner a certificate from FAB Training.

Duration:

The Life Support Skills course, which is endorsed at Brunel University London, is 2 hours in duration. The course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR, AED and first aid.

The course is delivered on one day.

Syllabus:

  •  A range of subjects are covered which will require the candidate to:
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  •  Be able to assess an incident
  •  Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  •  Be able to manage anaphylaxis
  •  Be able to use a defibrillator (AED)

Pre Requisites:

Every candidate, prior to commencement of training for the Life Support Skills course must be 12 years and over.

Costs: £30.00

Certification:

All who are successful in gaining the award will be given a certificate by First Aid Bushey Training.

The validity period of the award is one year from the date of the assessment.

Level 2 – Emergency First Aid at Work

Qualification title: Level 2 – Emergency First Aid at Work

Description and Purpose

Employers are legally required to assess their workplace with regards to First Aid qualification needs. The findings of the needs assessment should indicate the level of first-aid equipment, facilities and personnel required.

This 1 day course covers a range of CPR, AED and First Aid skills and the training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

This course will provide the learner a recognised Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

Duration:

The EFAW course duration is 6 hours and the course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR, AED and first aid.

The course is delivered on one day.

Syllabus:

  •  A range of subjects are covered which will require the candidate to:
  •  Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  •  Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  •  Be able to assess an incident
  •  Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding

Pre Requisites:

Every candidate, prior to commencement of training for the EFAW qualification must:

– Be 16 years of age at the time of taking the EFAW assessment;

Costs: £90.00

Certification:

Completed assessment reports will be forwarded to the Awarding Body for processing. A carbon copy of the Assessment Report Form will be retained by the candidate as proof of successfully gaining the award. IQL UK will despatch, by normal post, the EFAW certificate to the candidate’s home address.

The validity period of the award is three years from the date of the assessment.

Level 3 – First Aid at Work

Qualification title: Level 3 – First Aid at Work

Description and Purpose:

Employers are legally required to assess their workplace with regards to First Aid qualification needs.

The findings of the needs assessment should indicate the level of first-aid equipment, facilities and personnel required.

This course will provide the learner a recognised Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) First Aid at Work qualification.

Duration:

The FAW course duration is 18 hours and the course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR, AED and first aid.

The course can be delivered over 3 consecutive days or can be delivered over 10 weeks from the start of the course.

Syllabus:

  •  A range of subjects are covered which will require the candidate to:
  •  Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  •  Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  •  Be able to assess an incident
  •  Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  •  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  •  Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding

Level 3 – First Aid at Work renewal

Qualification title: Level 3 – First Aid at Work renewal

Description and Purpose:

The First aid at work requalification training course updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First aid at work certificate.

The HSE strongly recommends that you requalify within a month of your certificate expiring.

Who should attend?

This course is for people wishing to renew a valid First aid at work certificate.

What you will learn:

The course aims to update and refresh your knowledge of the First aid at work syllabus, while allowing time for revision and practice sessions in preparation for a written assessment.

Course content:

This course covers the contents of the three-day First aid at work course in two days. Students will re-qualify for the three-day course.

Course duration: 2 days

Assessment:

Previously, students who attended our first aid courses needed to pass a final practical assessment. This has been replaced with continuous observation by the trainer and written assessments.

Candidates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2). Whilst we are often able to provide support to people who for example do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. Although we may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.

Cost: £150.00

Certification:

Successful candidates receive a Royal Life Saving Society certificate, valid for three years.

Level 2 – Safeguarding & Protecting Children & Young People

Qualification title: Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People

Description and Purpose:

The Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) is for those working with under 18s, this may be in paid or voluntary employment. Sadly the safeguarding of children and young people is never out of the news. Whether this is neglect or more recently issues related to FGM or radicalisation, there is a legal requirement for those working with children and young people to understand the issues of safeguarding. This qualification is assessed in accordance with the Skills for Health assessment principles.

Course content:

The QNUK Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) includes the following:

    • child trafficking
    • domestic abuse
    • FGM
